The Definition Of A Family Business
In 1991, A friend convinced Gary Bartz and his buddy to start a fireworks stand outside of Lawrence.
Gary invited his brother Larry and his nieces and nephews to help at the stand. The kids were more than happy to accept.
A whirlwind first and second season culminated when the fireworks tent came down during a tornado. Larry rode out the storm holding down the tent, but the wooden tent poles were no match for the destructive storm. The tent poles broke in half!
After the tornado debacle, Gary’s buddy decided he wanted out of the fireworks business, so Larry stepped in to take his place. In 1993, a local farmer gave Larry permission to locate the stand at 31st and Kasold – and Bartz Brothers Fireworks was born. The Bartz Brothers expanded by opening locations at TeePee Junction and 6th & K10.
After Gary’s passing, Larry continued under the Bartz Brothers Fireworks brand until 2019, when he re-branded the company Bartz Fireworks.

Bartz Fireworks prices won’t break the bank. We strive for fair pricing. While we are unable to price match, if you find a better deal somewhere else, let us know. We don’t usually get the chance to visit other stands, so even if we can’t match the price, it’s good information for our team.
